Methylator Plus 4.0 (5-methyltetrahydrofolate) is the most biologically active form of the water-soluble vitamin, folic acid. It is the preferred form of folate supplementation due, primarily, to the poor absorption of folic acid when liver disease, genetic enzyme defects, or gastrointestinal conditions- especially those involving malabsorption- are present. Data suggest that supplementing with 5-MTHF increases plasma folate more effectively than folic acid. In this formula, Methylator Plus 4.0 is provided as Quatrefolic®- the glucosamine salt of 5-MTHF. Quatrefolic is proven to have greater stability, solubility, and bioavailability over calcium salt forms of 5-MTHF.
